In 2018, The First Russian-Chinese Forum On Titanium Will Be Held

Within the framework of the Working Group on Raw Materials of the Subcommission on Cooperation in the Field of Industry of the Russian-Chinese Commission for the Preparation of Regular Meetings of the Heads of Government, a delegation from the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia headed by Deputy Director of the Department of Metallurgy and Raw Materials Semyon Mashkautank visited Beijing.

During the visit, a meeting was held with the Director of the Department of Raw Materials of the Ministry of Industry and Informatization of the People's Republic of China, Li Wei where the development of the aluminum and titanium industry was discussed. Mr. Li Wei noted that the production of primary aluminum in China is primarily aimed at meeting domestic demand and further moderate and consistent development of the industry will be carried out depending on the needs of the national economy. The Russian side welcomed the ongoing efforts of the PRC government to streamline the aluminum industry in order to stimulate sustainable development.

In addition, the parties decided to hold the first Russian-Chinese forum on titanium in China in 2018.

"We expect that due to open dialogue during the forum there will be a revival of demand for titanium due to the growth in the production of new aircraft models, the further development of nuclear energy," Semyon Mashkautank stressed.

On December 16, 2017, the parties signed the Minutes of the working meeting in which they fixed the strengthening of contacts between the companies of UC RUSAL and the Aluminum Corporation of China, as well as the proposal of the Russian side to establish the Metallurgical Subgroup in the Working Group on Raw Materials of the Subcommission on Cooperation in the industry of the Russian-Chinese Commission for the preparation of regular meetings of the heads of government.
