March 15, 2017, held a meeting of the Russian President Vladimir Putin, the President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan , who is in Russia on an official visit.
International negotiations were held with the participation of heads of ministries, departments, and business representatives. The meeting discussed key issues of bilateral cooperation, the state and prospects of development of multifaceted Russian-Armenian cooperation in the Eurasian integration space.
Following the talks, the two leaders issued a joint statement, in which Russia and Armenia have decided to build up mutually beneficial economic cooperation and contribute to the diversification and increase of bilateral trade volume, creating favorable conditions for the successful functioning of economic entities of the two countries, deepen cooperation in the energy sector, the field of use of atomic energy, mining and smelting and processing industries, transport and communications, as well as the interaction between financial and banking structures.
Vladimir Putin said that Russia is a leading economic partner of Armenia on the basis of 2016goda bilateral trade grew by six per cent between the two countries.
" We believe this result is a serious success that has been achieved in a volatile global environment. In order to further expand and diversify trade is currently being explored the possibility of mutual settlements in national currencies ", - President said.
Serzh Sargsyan noted the positive dynamics in all spheres of Russian-Armenian cooperation and confirmed the readiness to make further efforts to enhance mutual strategic cooperation.
" Following the discussion, the whole complex of bilateral issues we reaffirmed its readiness to continue its efforts and to deepen cooperation in the field of security, foreign policy, military-technical, trade, economic and humanitarian cooperation ", - the President of Armenia said.
Summing up the meeting, Vladimir Putin expressed confidence that the agreements reached will contribute to further deepening of the Russian-Armenian partnership.
