Dmitry Medvedev: In August This Year, Trade Between Russia And China Grew By 35%

 On November 1, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev arrived in China, where the 22nd regular meeting of the two heads of government took place in Beijing. Also during the visit, Russian Prime Minister and Chinese President Si Tsinping discussed topical issues of the Russian-Chinese strategic partnership and interaction. The result of the negotiations was the signing of a number of intergovernmental documents.

At the end of the meetings, the head of the Russian Government and Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Li Keqiang held a press conference. The events were attended by the Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov.

Dmitry Medvedev stressed that relations between Russia and China are now at a high level and are the best for centuries of history.

As a result of last year, the growth of mutual trade amounted to 4%, and in January-August this year the trade turnover grew by 35%. And we have all the chances to consolidate these positive trends

said the Prime Minister.

According to him, the mechanism of interaction between the two governments allows for effective development of cooperation between the states. The result of this year's work was the signing of bilateral intergovernmental, interdepartmental and interregional documents on cooperation in various fields: trade, agriculture, customs, space and so on.

We are not just increasing the volume of trade. We implement the largest projects, including cross-border projects. For example, such a breakthrough project will be the Eurasian transport corridor between China, Russia, the countries of the European Union. Let's hope that this big project will be implemented and will have an impact on the overall situation

said Dmitry Medvedev.

According to the Prime Minister of Russia, the countries jointly implement large transport projects, including the development of a wide-body long-range civil aircraft, which has already received the name, space research, design of a civilian heavy helicopter. Within the partnership, serious attention is also paid to investment cooperation. To date, a package of 73 priority investment projects has been approved, 17 are already being actively implemented, and about $ 15 billion of investments have been attracted to them.

Li Keqiang, in turn, noted that the countries agreed on further strengthening and expanding the scope of bilateral trade, the implementation of already agreed joint projects for obtaining an early result.

China is going to organize an import fair next year. We invite Russian companies, entrepreneurs and guests to visit it. We hope that at the forthcoming fair, Russian goods will be found by more Chinese consumers and will expand their share in the Chinese market

he said.

The Premier of the State Council of the PRC stressed that China highly appreciates the traditional cooperation between China and Russia in the field of oil, gas, coal, electricity, nuclear energy, renewable energy sources and looks forward to cooperation along the eastern route of the Yamal LNG gas pipeline, the second line of the China- Russia and the implementation of other major projects.

Following the meeting, a number of intergovernmental documents were signed, including:

  • Agreement on trade, economic, scientific, technical, socio-cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Karelia (Russian Federation) and the People's Government of Fujian Province (People's Republic of China)  
  • Protocol of the fourth meeting of the Intergovernmental Russian-Chinese Commission for Investment Cooperation
  • Protocol of the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Russian-Chinese Commission for Cooperation and Development of the Far East and the Baikal Region of the Russian Federation and the Northeast of the People's Republic of China
