Electronic software provider Teleca Russia receives its first project with a Russian mobile operator

Global supplier of embedded software solutions for consumer electronics, automotive and mobile industries, Teleca, is to develop applications for MegaFon. MegaFon is one of the largest Russian mobile operators. Teleca Friday announced the successful completion of the first mobile application project for MegaFon on the Android and iPhone platforms.

Valery Kalachev, Teleca Russia managing director, said the project showcases the firm’s great potential in Russia, a move that might work towards enhancing its market share. Kalachev noted that the Russian mobile application market is wide, and the firm hopes that the high level of its services will be the beginning of long term cooperation with MegaFon.
The project developed during November and December, 2010 with the goal to provide MegaFon subscribers an easy way of accessing information on operator services by means of new applications on the platforms Android and iPhone.

The basic functions of the application are to provide the subscriber with simple and convenient access to operator service and content information. The application gives the subscriber the possibility to access compelling services offered by MegaFon, and provides enhanced convenience by using local positioning of the mobile device either using GPS or the base stations position. Thus the user only receives the information applicable for the locally available services in a given area.

Teleca has 2,000 employees in 11 countries, with local engineering in Asia, Europe and North America and offshore services in Russia, China, Poland and India. Touching a wide range of market segments, Teleca’s solutions drive some of the world’s most popular devices and applications.

Teleca is a world-leading supplier of embedded software solutions for a wide range of global industries — including mobile, automotive and consumer electronics. With unique global reach, Teleca offers fully customized solutions, systems design, integration and testing to help drive down development time and deliver value.

MegaFon is one of three major mobile networks in Russia, and the only one that operates its own network and provides a range of services throughout the country. It has more than 56 million active subscriber accounts, and subsidiaries in Tajikistan, Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

In June 2010 MegaFon acquired 100% of the shares of Synterra, a company with a large terrestrial and satellite telecommunications infrastructure, significantly enhancing its leadership capabilities in the segments of long-distance communications, fixed-line and mobile broadband Internet and convergent services.
