"Helicopters Of Russia" Completed The Flight Tests Of The MI-171E2 Helicopter

 Holding "Helicopters of Russia" has successfully completed testing a new multipurpose helicopter Mi-171E2 with a new power plant and a carrier system. The machine was developed by the Moscow Helicopter Plant. M.L. Mile and will be serially produced at the Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant (U-UAZ).

The new Mi-171E2 for the provision of air transportation of state structures of foreign countries has become a continuation of the work to create a new generation of Mi-17/171 helicopters. 

During the tests of the Mi-171E2 helicopter, it was possible to confirm the improvement of all basic flight performance characteristics. The testers noted an increase in the efficiency of work at high altitudes, an increase in payload, maximum and cruise speeds, climb rates, reserve of track control, and a reduction in the noise level from the carrier and steering screws. It was also possible to achieve a noticeable increase in the thrust of the main rotor, a significant improvement in the handling and maneuverability of the helicopter, a significant reserve of engine power in different flight regimes, which was especially evident at high altitudes.

"Thanks to the improved performance of the Mi-171E2, the state structures that use helicopter technology are interesting.When we created the new machine, we took into account the specifics of the operation of the previously supplied U-UAZ helicopters in highland countries: China, Pakistan, Iran, and Latin American states. and the carrier system of the Mi-171E2 provide extended opportunities for using the helicopter at high altitudes at elevated temperature, so I'm sure that the machine will find wide application in the highlands and hot climate, "- said the general director of the holding" Russian Helicopters " Andrei Boginsky.

The Mi-171E2 tests were conducted on the basis of the Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant and included the ground and flight parts. A total of 45 test flights were performed, with the helicopter flying 50 hours. More than 100 flight and engineering staff of the developer and the manufacturer ensured the implementation and support of the tests of the modernized helicopter.

The main feature of the Mi-171E2 is a new power plant and a carrier system. It features high-altitude VK-2500PS-03 high-power engines with a digital FADEC control system, as well as a new rotor made of polymer composite materials with an improved profile and an X-shaped steering screw similar to that used on the Mi-171A2 helicopter . At the same time, the Mi-171E2 modernized the fuselage, installed a modified tail and keel beam, stabilizer of increased area.

For export, the Mi-171E2 will be supplied under the already used cipher "Mi-171E".
