In India, there will be a session of the Eastern Economic Forum

June 18 in the Republic of India will host a retreat session of the Eastern Economic Forum. It will be conducted by the Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation - Presidential Plenipotentiary in the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev.

 The format of the on-site session was discussed on the fields of SPIEF-2019 by Leonid Petukhov, Director General of the Agency for the Promotion of Investment and Export Promotion (ANO API), and Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

“The visiting sessions of the Eastern Economic Forum have already become a permanent format for holding preliminary meetings where issues are being worked out that will be considered in more detail in September in Vladivostok. Such sessions make it possible to make relations more intense, to discuss issues in a narrow composition, and already at the Forum itself to come to fixing the agreements reached. It is assumed that the exit session will be held in Mumbai. Several round tables will be organized for Indian entrepreneurs, ”Leonid Petukhov emphasized.

According to the director general of ANO IPA, the Indian track has become one of the most intense in the international activities of the Agency. At the end of April, ANO IPA held 23 meetings with Indian companies and organizations as part of a weekly road show in New Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta. In mid-May, with the assistance of ANO IPA, the Embassy of the Republic of India to the Russian Federation, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), an Indian business delegation visited Primorsky Krai. The delegation included representatives of Indian companies in the mining sector, logistics, energy, construction of hotel infrastructure, tea production, etc. Representatives of Indian companies took part in the plenary session "Opportunities, conditions and projects for Russian-Indian cooperation in the Far East of Russia" They visited the Vladivostok Commercial Sea Port and got acquainted with the enterprises of the residents of the Nadezhdinskaya Torological Foundation, including the diamond cutting plant of the Indian company KGK. At the end of May, at a meeting with the Ambassador of India to the Russian Federation, D. B. Venkatesh Varmoy, issues of cooperation with the Indian business in the diamond-cutting industry, mining and coal mining, agriculture, and IT-technologies were discussed.

Recall, with the participation of Indian capital, 5 projects are being implemented with a total value of 78.5 billion rubles. The KJ Company in Vladivostok has set up diamond cutting production, and now, together with Sudima, a Singaporean company, is preparing a project for the creation of a timber processing complex. JT has opened a tea-packing factory in Primorye. Company "M. Suresh Vladivostok ”is preparing to launch a diamond cutting project. Tata Power has acquired a license to develop the Krutogorovskoye field in the Kamchatka region. Investors of the Republic of India are also represented in the oil and gas sector. The Indian company ONGC Videsh limited owns 20% of Sakhalin-1.


In 2018, the volume of foreign trade between the Russian Federation and the Republic of India grew by 17% and amounted to 10.9 billion US dollars compared to the same indicator in 2017 (9.4 billion US dollars). According to the data of the Far Eastern Customs Administration of the Federal Customs Service, in 2018 the volume of foreign trade of the Far Eastern Federal District with the Republic of India grew by 3.2% and amounted to $ 790.5 million - 7.2% of the total trade turnover of the Russian Federation.
