The Localization And Development Of The Production Of Auto Components Were Discussed In Kaluga

On November 27, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Alexander Morozov paid a working visit to the VOLKSWAGEN Group Rus plants in Kaluga. The event was also attended by the Governor of the Kaluga region Anatoly Artamonov and members of the Kaluga Government, as well as the general director of the State Research Center of the Russian Federation FSUE NAMI Sergei Gaisin. On behalf of VOLKSWAGEN Group Rus, the delegation was received by the members of the Management Board of the company headed by General Director Marcus Osegovich.

During the visit, the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade and members of the delegation visited the production site of Gestamp, the largest supplier of stamped parts on the Russian market. Delegations were presented with the results already achieved and plans for further development of production.

After bypassing the Gestamp plant, the delegation familiarized in detail with the production facilities of VOLKSWAGEN Group Rus for the production of cars and internal combustion engines (1.6 MPI). Particular attention was paid to demonstrating the achievements in the field of localization using local raw materials and blanks. The participants of the event noted the need for the development of level 2 and 3 suppliers for the further sustainable growth of the Russian automotive industry.

In addition, the delegation showed the testing laboratories and the VOLKSWAGEN Group Rus research center, equipped with modern diagnostic equipment.

The meeting participants discussed topical issues of the automotive industry, as well as measures of state support planned in 2018-2020. Markus Ozegovich drew attention to the impressive results of the company for the export of cars for the first 9 months of 2017 (about 50% of the total Russian exports of cars), and presented the company's ambitious plans to develop exports of not only cars but also components. Thus, Markus Osegovich believes that "the Russian automotive industry is slowly but still beginning to integrate into global supply chains and at this stage of the industry development it is extremely important to support this trend with a correct and balanced industrial policy."

Governor of the Kaluga region Anatoly Artamonov said: "The history of the Volkswagen Group Rus is a good example of the well-coordinated work of the federal Government and the Ministry of Industry and Trade in particular, as well as the regional Government. We hope that this interaction between the region and the federal government will continue to create favorable conditions for the further development of business in the company and, importantly, the development of exports. "

According to Alexander Morozov, the Ministry of Industry and Trade from 2018 plans to significantly strengthen state support for the development of production of auto components, and supported Volkswagen's plans to develop this direction. The meeting agreed to continue constructive dialogue on the issues raised during the meeting.
