The Ministry Of Industry And Trade Discussed The Industrial Development Of The Krasnoyarsk Territory

The Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov held a working meeting with the Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Alexander Uss.

The parties discussed the issue of concluding a tripartite agreement between PJSC Norilsk Nickel, the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia.

Currently, the Norilsk Nickel MMC PJSC development program is in an active stage of implementation, aimed at deep modernization of production by 2023, the implementation of which will increase ore production from 25 to 40 million tons, increase the processing capacity from 25 to 46 million tons by based on modern technology

- noted the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia.

It is worth noting the fact that a special place in the implemented program is given to improving the environmental situation in the production region. As part of its emission reduction initiatives, MMC Norilsk Nickel successfully completed the first phase of the environmental program, within the framework of which it was possible to achieve a reduction of sulfur dioxide emissions of 11% in the Polar Division and about 30% in the Kola Peninsula.

In September 2018, the Company launched the second phase of the environmental program, proceeding with the modernization of sulfur production at the Copper Plant. Other key elements of the second stage will be the construction of sulfur dioxide capture and sulfuric acid neutralization capacities at the Nadezhda Metallurgical Plant.

Speaking about the trilateral agreement between the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Krasnoyarsk Territory and PJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel, Alexander Ussemphasized:

We offer to carry out cooperation in such areas as: supporting the implementation of environmental investment projects, expanding the use of domestic equipment and carrying out research and development work on the creation of new types of equipment, improving the regulatory framework in the field of industry and investment activities

It is worth noting that the signing of the aforementioned Agreement is proposed by the Government of the Krasnoyarsk Territory as part of a working visit to the enterprise (August 29-30, 2019) with a meeting at the site of Norilsk.
