Prospects Of The Flax Market In Russia Were Discussed At The Session Within The Framework Of RIF-2018

The world market of flax products (fiber, yarn and fabric) is estimated at $ 2.2 billion, the share of the Russian Federation in this market is only 0.5%, of the Republic of Belarus - 3.5%. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Viktor Yevtukhov , speaking at the session "Renovation of the Russian Flax Complex", which was held within the framework of the Russian Investment Forum in Sochi.

"Today, flax is an exchange commodity, where, depending on the quality of the flax fiber, appropriate pricing is formed ," he said. - You can earn money by exporting flax fiber - this is a good help for non-black soil regions, and each subsequent redistribution will not only raise the level of profitability, but also create additional jobs . "

Viktor Yevtukhov stressed the need not to "just own the raw materials", but to receive income from it, increasing the level of its processing, expanding the assortment line and developing non-waste production.

Flax in this respect is a very suitable culture. This is a real example of a practically waste-free technology - when waste can be used for the production of fuel briquettes, or so-called flocks, and flax of low quality can be successfully used to make building heaters , "the deputy minister said.

In addition, he said, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia supported the business initiative to create an interregional cluster for the cultivation and deep processing of bast fibers.

Already from this year, long-term contracts between agricultural producers and textile enterprises of the cluster for the supply of flax fiber are planned to be concluded, " said the deputy head of the Ministry of the Interior of Russia. - Negotiations are being held with the leaders of the French linen industry regarding the localization of flax harvesting machinery in the Russian Federation. And we are sure that our agricultural machinery manufacturers will support us in this matter. "

For reference:

To date, the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia has carried out work to increase the per hectare subsidy for flax-growing farms from 7.5 to 10 thousand rubles per ha; equipment for growing and processing flax is included in the list for preferential lending to JSC Rosselkhozbank.
