Representatives Of Russia And The EU Discussed Cooperation In The Field Of Automotive Industry

 On October 13, in St. Petersburg, the regular meeting of the Working Party on Automotive Industry was held within the framework of the dialogue between the Russian Federation and the EU. The Russian side at the event was represented by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Alexander Morozov .

The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia jointly with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia and the Permanent Mission of Russia to the EU regularly organizes meetings of the Working Group for Sectoral Dialogue in the Interests of Industry Enterprises of Russia and the EU.

During the next meeting, participants exchanged information on the situation in the industry. Representatives of the European Commission made a report on the European Automotive Development Strategy until 2030. Alexander Morozov announced data on the Russian car market and production, information on measures of state support in 2017-2018, as well as on the main directions of the draft Automotive Industry Strategy until 2025.

The parties discussed the legislation of the EU and Russia, including the basic directive on the safety of EU wheeled vehicles, development of electric vehicle and component production, unmanned vehicles and telematic transport systems.

The participants noted the similarity of positions in the regulation of innovations in the automobile industry, including in cybersecurity issues, and agreed to study the possibility of implementing joint integration projects.

Russian experts shared their experience in implementing an emergency response system during the ERA-GLONASS crashes, provided information on the activities of the Autonet - one of the nine projects of the National Technology Initiative. The parties stressed the need for an early harmonization of the requirements of Russia and the EU for automotive equipment in the areas under consideration.

The participants of the dialogue will continue to work on the site of the UNECE World Forum on Harmonization of Requirements for Wheeled Vehicles WP.29, which will be held in Geneva in November 2017.
