Vladimir Putin: Future LNG Projects Should Make Maximum Use Of Domestic Equipment And Technologies

December 8, 2017, during a working visit to the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin visited the Yamal LNG plant, where he held a meeting on the development of liquefied natural gas production projects. The meeting was attended by the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov.

The head of state got acquainted with the construction of the facilities of the second and third stages of the LNG liquefaction enterprise Yamal LNG and started the loading of the first gas tanker: at the command of the President, the fuel began to flow into the vessels of the vessel Christophe de Margerie.

A meeting was held at the plant site, during which Vladimir Putin noted that the Yamal LNG development project opened up new horizons for the development of the gas industry and formed high-tech jobs, including in the North and the Far East. So, in Sabetta, where the plant is located, about 32 thousand new jobs have been formed. The project provides for the loading of adjacent enterprises and builds the foundation for effective development of the Arctic and the Northern Sea Route: logistics routes are already being created, the tanker and icebreaking fleet is being built up. In addition, a new port, aviation, railway infrastructure has been formed, housing and social facilities are being built.

According to the President, the project is an example of successful international cooperation with France, Italy, Germany and a number of other European countries, and also contributes to strengthening economic cooperation with the states of the Asia-Pacific region.

According to experts, global demand for gas will increase by more than 40 percent by 2040. And what is especially important, the most actively developing will be supplies of liquefied gas. Here growth can reach about 70 percent. Russia is capable and should occupy in this market a decent niche , -

Vladimir Putin declared

He stressed that in addition to export supplies, it is necessary to create demand for liquefied gas in the country, for example, by transferring public transport to cleaner, more environmentally friendly gas engine fuel.

To increase the volume of LNG supplies, it is necessary to develop capacities for liquefying gas. To create conditions for the localization of the production of equipment necessary for its production, storage and transportation, thereby ensuring the loading of its own industrial enterprises ,

the Russian leader said.

He focused on the fact that future LNG projects should make maximum use of domestic equipment and technologies, and proposed to involve OPK enterprises in tasks of localization and production of high-tech products in the interests of gas companies.
