After Moscow and St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk is the third largest region in Russia. It is a major industrial center of Russia. The industrial complex in Novosibirsk includes 214 large and average industrial enterprises. Almost 80$ of the industrial production of the Oblast is in the Novosibirsk region. Processing industries contribute to around 95% of the overall production volume. Major industries of this region are metal-processing and machine-building, including wood-processing and metal-cutting machines, electric generators for turbines, polymers, textile machines and polymers. Other leading industries water supply, gas supply, metal working, metallurgy, and mechanical engineering. Novosibirsk region has more than 30 banks.

Another airport in this region is the Novosibirsk Elitsovka Airport that acts as an auxiliary airport. Novosibirsk is also considered the air gateway to Siberia. As far as air passenger traffic is concerned, the Novosibirsk region occupies the third place, behind Moscow and St. Petersburg. The region also accommodates offices of more than 20 airlines, including “Deutsche Lufthghanza,” “Aeroflot,” “Xinjiang Airlines,” “East Line,” “Atlant Soyuz” and “Ukranian Airlines.”
Besides, the headquarters of S7-Russian Federation’s 2d largest airline- is located in the Novosibirsk region.
It also has a well developed railway network. Inskaya- Russian Federation’s second largest railway yard, is located in Novosibirsk. This railway yard works with 5 directions and receives and dispatches more than 16,000 rail cars daily. The popular Novosibirsk metro system was started in Novosibirsk in 1985.
